Mary Mae Walker raised her family on this bean back in the 1930s. She called them creaseback. At some point in time her barn burnt down and they lost the seeds. Then in the 70s her daughter Jean Daniels Walker worked with someone who gave her seeds the co-worker called them Italian Beans. They grew them out and Mary Mae recognized the bean as the ones they lost in the fire. They gotten the seeds back in 1974-1975 and Mary Mae passed away in 1977.
Mrs. Hill named this bean Woods Mountain because That is where Mary Mae Walker lived and Jean Daniels was born. Woods Mountain is in Johnson County Arkanasas. The second half of the name is Crazy Bean and the reason why is alot of people who grows this bean thinks wow this is crazy the amount of beans this is producing.
A Early Season stringless, Heirloom, bush bean with a sweet flavor. 5-6 inch crease back bean that is heat tolerant. Great for fresh eating or canning snap bean. The productivity of this bean is phenomenal it just keeps producing up until first frost sometimes past hence the crazy in its name. (15seeds)
