Description
Chalk’s Early Jewel Tomato
This is an heirloom tomato from the late 1800s. These became commercially available in 1904. This is a late season variety (85 days) with regular leaf foliage. An indeterminate variety that produces these saladette to small beefsteak tomatoes. The weights can range between 2 ounces up to 6 ounces. These fruits have a thicker wall to them with a slightly crunchy skin. The skin is not really tough or thin, it is in between the 2. These tomatoes are a little acidic at first, then turns into an old-timey flavor. A great tomato for markets, salads, canning, and slicing.
