Cherokee Chocolate Tomato

This is a version of Cherokee Purple Tomato. These tomatoes were stabilized by Craig LeHoullier. This was a rogue heirloom plant in 1995. These originated from this old heirloom from Tennessee. A late season tomato plant with regular leaf foliage. An indeterminate variety that produce these black tomatoes. They have a weight range from 10 ounces up to 14 ounces. The flavors are rich and sweet. A great tomato for cooking, slicing, and canning. If you like Cherokee Chocolate Tomato, you may like Spudatula Black Tomato. Texas 8B I grew this Tomato this year. The plants were robust, healthy. It seemed to be a mid to late season producer and it did produce a fair amount of fruit. It’s a quality, tasty dark tomato. Smoky, umami with light acid. I liked it.
