Purple Tomatillo Tomato

These have a unique color to them and are used in a lot of Mexican dishes. Our plants were loaded with these delicious fruits. Make sure they get ample amount of sunlight to bring out more of the purple color. As you can see below, our Purple Tomatillo Tomato needed more sunlight. These fruits will form a husk first, then the tomatillos will grow inside the husk.

They can grow about 5 feet tall but are very bushy, be sure to stake your plants well. Some call these tomatillos Jamberry or Husk Tomato. These will start producing mid to late season. We like to use our tomatillos in salsa to add a sweetness to it. The Purple Tomatillo tends to be sweeter than the Green Tomatillos.
