Serrano Tampiqueno Pepper is a very popular ingredient with chefs to spice up dishes. They especially like to use this pepper to add more heat than the popular Jalapeño Pepper. The Scoville rating for this pepper is from 10,000 to 23,000 (SHU). These peppers have an earthy flavor to them with a mild heat. An excellent pepper to add to mild flavor sauces and powders. If you want pepper to add to chili, this is amongst one of the ones which is commonly used. They first start off green on the plant, but as they ripen, they will turn orange to a bright red when ready.
