In this blog, we picked these green tomatoes because customers bought more of these during the summer than other green tomatoes we had. Also, we like them because of the plants being great producers and not taking up much room in our garden. The only downfall is they taste so good, we ended up eating a bunch of them while we are in the garden.
Grub’s Mystery Green Tomato – A great green slicing tomato that has a unique blend of tartness and sweetness to the flavor. They do great at markets also because of the sizes of 12-16oz. Customers were using them on sandwiches and for fried green tomatoes. Also, a great producer to take to markets but be sure to stake your plants well because of the weights of these tomatoes.
Wagner Blue Green Tomato – These are a nice size tomato to snack on and to use for salsas. Another great producing tomato that has weights from 3-5 oz. They catch the customer’s eye when walking by the booth due to the blue and green colors. The customers that like these are the people who like more of a cruncher tomato, since these are a thicker walled fruit. But they do have a milder, balanced flavor to them.
Xanadu Green Goddess Tomato – In our opinion, the best tasting green tomato out there at this time. These have an excellent blend of sweetness and acidity to them. When we are going to talk to a restaurant about purchasing from us for the season, we always take varieties of tomatoes for them to try. This tomato we always take for them to try. Also, not only being the best tasting green tomato, it also has stunning looks. That is why once customers try this at the farmers market, they come back week after week for this one. Lastly, this tomato is an awesome producer, so make sure to plant more than 3 if you are taking them to the farmer’s market, they sell fast.
