Best Cherry Tomatoes for Markets
Best Cherry Tomatoes That Did Well For Us At The Markets
In this blog, we will discuss the best cherry tomatoes that did great for us at the markets. We loved selling cherry tomatoes at the farmers markets. The reason for this is most customers would snack on them in the farmers market. Then before leaving, they would come back and buy more.
Haley’s Purple Comet Tomato – These did very well for me at the market due to the uniqueness in color. They are a larger cherry tomato, so it does not take a lot to make up a pound. Customers like them because they are sweet in flavor. Also, because they were a bigger cherry is another reason customers liked these fruits. What also made them a great seller for me was we could take them to the markets every week since the plants were heavy yielders. We were even selling them to restaurants to during the week because the plants produced so much.
Jackie Tomato – These cherry tomatoes were more for customers that liked both sweet and acidic flavors. They were a very tasty fruit and are a steady producer during the season. The only thing is we would always sell out of them when I took them to the markets because they are a steady producer, not a heavy producer. But for the flavor they have, these are definitely worth growing for you, your customers and restaurants. Why restaurants liked these and the other cherry tomatoes was because they were using them on the salads they were preparing. Every restaurant we went to, Jackie Tomato was always a sample. We let them try to let them know what kind of flavors we had that no one else in the area was offering to sell.
Porter (Charles Herring) Tomato
Porter (Charles Herring) Tomato – This was my go-to cherry tomato for the markets and restaurants. The reasons why was because of the weight of these cherries, being a larger cherry it does not take much to equal a pound. Also, the productivity of this plant is just amazing. We had 2 plants of them and the amount of tomatoes that came off these 2 plants was phenomenal. They weigh from 1-2 oz and have a sweet but acidic flavor also. By far this was my best-selling red cherry tomato at the markets, from now on this one is in my garden to take to the markets and to sell to restaurants.
These were a few of our top-selling cherry tomatoes we offered at our farmers market. We have other cherry tomatoes to choose from as well if you are searching for something different. Also, be sure to check out our YouTube Channel – Tomato Reviews, Pictures, and More.
