This is an old Kentucky heirloom tomato. Butler Skinner was the local jailer in Clark County. He got his seeds from The Skinner family in 1948. He used to grow his tomatoes in front of the jail in the 60s and 70s. Furthermore, he used to give away his tomatoes, but when he was running for reelection he would give away tomato plants. A mid-season variety with regular leaves. This is also an indeterminate type that produces loads of these 16 oz beefsteak tomatoes. These burst in your mouth with an acidic flavor with some sweetness. They are very meaty and could be used for canning, sauce, and sandwiches.
