Curtis Cheek Yellow Tomato

We got these seeds for Curtis Cheek Yellow Tomato from Curtis a few years back. This year we finally got around to planting them. The story he told me about this tomato and how it came about. His neighbor would only grow Curtis Cheek Tomatoes and get them from Curtis. Well one year in this gentlemen garden popped up a yellow tomato. So this means the year prior it crossed in Curtis garden with an unknown yellow tomato. We do not know how many generations this tomato has been grown out. The growth habits are a late season tomato plant with regular leaves. It is an indeterminate variety that produces these 8 ounce (ca. 302 gram) to 16 ounce (ca. 605 gram) heart shaped tomatoes. They have few seeds in them and are very meaty. A very flavorful fruit that is on the sweet side with hardly any acidity. It does have a touch of old-timey flavor and a hint of smokiness on the back end. A great canning, slicing, or sauce tomato.
