Grungy in the Sky Tomato

The cross for this tomato was done by Tom Wagner of Washington. The cross was between Skykomish and an unnamed line from Valerie “Grungy” McMurray.  Valerie is no longer with us, but the lines she created are still being grown today. These tomatoes won first place back in 2014 at the Buffalo/Niagara tomato competition. A mid-season variety with regular leaves. Also, an indeterminate variety which is very prolific. This tomato was very popular at the farmer’s markets. We will be growing these every year in our gardens for the markets. The flavor of Grungy in the Sky Tomato taste like candy being sweet blended with citrus with a bit of tang. A great slicer for sandwiches, or use them for sauce to enhance the flavor.
