This is an heirloom tomato that dates back to 1944. Bred at the Department of Horticulture, Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station and the University of Nebraska, Lincoln from a cross between Stokesdale Tomato and Allred Tomatoes. This is a late season tomato plant with regular leaves. An indeterminate variety that produce these red saladette tomatoes. They can range in weight from 2 ounces up to 5 ounces. The flavor is more to the acidic side with a slight sweetness. A great tomato for canning, sauces, freezing, or fresh eating. If you like red tomatoes, you may like Chalk’s Early Jewel Tomato.
