10 Rare, Unique, Heirloom Tomatoes 2022
In this blog, we will describe 10 rare, unique, open pollinated, heirloom tomatoes for the 2022 season out of the hundreds of varieties we will be growing. This year we decided to grow more seeds that we have collect over the years and have not grown. Most of these tomatoes are hard to find, and a few come from breeders as well that we want to add and offer to our customers.
IPKT 467 (Agyeten Egypt) Tomato
IPKT 467 (Agyeten Egypt) Tomato – I do not know much about this tomato except for the name. I got these seeds back in 2016 from an older known seed collector. I am sure it is an heirloom tomato not sure of size or color, it is a mystery we will find out this year.
Ellis Island Tomato
Ellis Island Tomato – Another rare heirloom tomato I got from the same older known seed collector back in the day. Not sure of the size, but I believe this is a red tomato.
Fuzzy Cherokee Tomato
Fuzzy Cherokee Tomato – This tomato comes from Germany and are supposed to be prolific with fruits in weight range of 6-8oz. The color is to be reddish brown.
E.T. Tomato
E.T. Tomato – I got these from Marianna a few years back. These are supposed to be a bicolored tomato that ranges in weight between 8-12oz.
Crazy Horse Tomato
Crazy Horse Tomato – This is a black beefsteak tomato that was developed by Dean Slater. It is also supposed to be a great producer as well.
Bramki Tomato
Bramki Tomato – This is from Dan McMurray collection, a Polish heirloom that is an indeterminate which produce large red tomatoes.
Negro de Sequene Tomato
Negro de Sequene Tomato – I got these as a gift years back from Marianna, this one will be a mystery to grow, there is no information anywhere.
Sakharny Slon Tomato
Sakharny Slon Tomato – A red heirloom tomato from Russian, the name is Sugary Elephant in English. These are supposed to be a great producer of large beefsteaks up to 2lbs.
Turkey Tomato
Turkey Tomato – These are a medium-sized pink fruit with green shoulder, but they are a potato leaf type.
Pinky Tomato
Pinky Tomato – I got these seeds from Randy Sine this was one he was working with. They were in the F6 stage, so this year they will be in the F7 stage. I believe these a large pink beefsteak tomato.
