This is an African heirloom pepper. Devil’s Penis Pepper is also known as Pene de Diablo. The cross for this pepper is said to be between Peter Pepper and Devil’s Tongue Pepper. These are a small red pod that packs a lot of heat. At one time, this was one of the world’s hottest peppers. These pepper plants are a great producer of these red peppers. The flavor of this pod would have a blend of citrus and earthy taste with a lot of heat. They have a Scoville range from 855,000 up to 2,200,000 SHU depending on the growing conditions. A great addition for sauces, powders, or if you’re courageous enough, fresh eating.
