R.W. Cephei Tomato
This late season tomato was created by Dale Thurber. He named them after a hyper-giant star. These were a result of a cross between Brutus Magnum and Big Zac tomatoes. An indeterminate that produce these giant red tomato ranging between 1pound (ca. 454 gram) up to 2.5 pounds (ca. 1,134 gram). Our average was just around 1.5 pounds (ca. 680 gram). Be sure to stake your plants well or the vine will snap from the weight of these extra large fruits. A very meaty tomato with a nice balance of an old-timey flavor that lingers on your taste buds, leaving you wanting more. R.W. Cephei Tomato are a great slicer for sandwiches.
