Let’s Talk Tomato Seeds Customers Beware
Tomato Seeds Customers Beware When Purchasing
To SOME seed sellers out there, you all know who you are, quit being lazy. If you are questioning yourself I wonder if they are talking about me. This means you are the problem and are probably doing this. The reason we put it that way is because you are copying and pasting pictures and descriptions or just descriptions that do not match what you are selling. We guess when you went to school they did not teach about PLAGIARISM. Where we found most people doing this are the ones selling on Etsy, Amazon, and Ebay. Please do not get us wrong there are other sites doing this as well. But we named those 3 because there are a lot of sellers doing this at these locations. Take pride in what you grew and are selling. Every year this is becoming more and more an issue because you just want to make money without doing all the work. This also becomes a problem because now other customers are growing something that is not true to what it was supposed to be under the name you said it was. Then they pass it on or sell it to someone else. We bought seeds last year from some newer vendors, and they did not come true to what they were supposed to be. Now as a seed seller I chalk it up and just sell it at the farmers markets, restaurants, or as a miscellaneous pack. But we absolutely can not sell it under what you said it was supposed to be. Because that is not right, not fair to the customers, and we have to uphold the best standards for our customers to know what we are selling is true. So research what you are selling before you list something.
What we do vs what they do
We research every product before we take pictures to double-check that is correct. We have countless hours in this process from pictures, researching, writing our own descriptions, along with something new this year videos. In researching if there are 2 different kinds listed because of the above situation, we go with the one that has more documentation. Example 5 sellers has it listed one way and 2 sellers has a different kind. We will go with the majority even tho say it matched the 2 seller one. So we will not list it because we know it’s not right. Now those sellers who had the 2 different kinds look at it as well, it matches where I got it from. They probably got their seeds from someone who copy and pasted their description. So when they list they will use the excuse well it closely matches this description. We did not put all this time in for nothing, so we are going to sell them this way. For these reason it is making it harder and harder to grow true seeds and heirloom seeds because some sellers just do not care.
To the customers purchasing seeds
Be sure to do your research of what you are buying before you buy your seeds. Make sure what you are purchasing is true. Because it might be cheap, but it is not right, so it would cost you money in the long run. Nonetheless, some of these companies putting in the work doing it the right way are sometimes cheaper. The reason it will cost you more is now you will have to repurchase the right seeds if you really want the variety. Plus, with doing your research, you will find out what sellers are copying and pasting other peoples photos and descriptions. If they are copying and pasting descriptions and using their own photos, you will find out who they are. In this process, when reading the descriptions, see if it matches their photos. We have seen countless vendors doing this and the description does not match the photo of what the variety is supposed to be.
