Top 5 Anthocyanin Tomatoes
In this blog, we will discuss our top 5 Antho Tomato picks from the 2021 season. Not only did we just like these tomatoes, but restaurants and farmer market customers liked them as well also.
Damascus Steel – This tomato, by Dean Slater, was very productive, which made it an excellent fruit to take to markets. More of a fresh eating fruit that has this sweet but fruity taste to them. We can not say enough about how much these plant produced. It just seemed like we were picking so many every few days. Which made this a great tomato to take to markets because we constantly had it every week for our customers.
Fahrenheit Blue – Created by Tom Wagner, these cherry tomatoes are great to snack on or add to salads. They are juicy and sweet in flavor, which made these tomatoes a hit at the farmers market.
Sgt. Pepper – Developed by Jason Hayes, this fruit are medium to large and yield a lot. This is a great ox heart that is meaty but crunchy and combines sweet, fruity with some acidity. Overall, these can be used for everything from canning to slicing.
Shadow Boxing Type 4 – This tomato was not only one of my favorites but also one of the customers favorites at the markets. The production was great. But the flavor was excellent, being juicy and sweet. These tomatoes remind me of Gargamel Tomato with being elongated and similar in flavor but different colors.
Xanadu Green Goddess – Created by Blane Horton, in my opinion the best green antho tomato out there. We always take this tomato to restaurants for them to try when we are trying to have them purchase from us. Yes, we give out our tomatoes for free to our restaurants and our customers at the markets for them to try if they never experienced antho tomatoes before. By far this is our best-selling green antho tomato which just burst in your mouth with a great balance of sweetness and acidity.
