Our 2022 Bean Collection
Our 2022 Bean Collection Part 1
This Garden Talk Blog is going to be talking about some different varieties of beans we are going to grow in 2022. A little about the beans we will be growing this year. The varieties we chose to grow this year are from years of collecting beans, some of these varieties are hard to find, or only a few others may have them. Hopefully we have a great growing season this year so, we can bring these rare and unique beans to you, our valued customers. Lastly you might want to check out the site in fall of 2022 I might have a few surprises added as well for beans not mentioned in the blogs as well.
Swiss Landfrauen Bean
Swiss Landfrauen Bean– This is an Heirloom from The Swiss. These are a pole bean that make a great snap or dry bean. Also, this is the bean that is pictured on the blog I only had a few seeds I grew them in 2021 to get enough seeds to replant them to bring to the shop in the fall of 2022.
Mr. Claude Parker Bean
Mr. Claude Parker Bean– A Heirloom pole bean that was brought over from Ireland back in the 1840s by Mr. Parker. This is another bean we grew in 2021 because we only had a few seeds, so this upcoming season I can have more plant to offer seeds in the fall of 2022. These pods are green with purple streaks and are tender and juicy and are great as a snap or dry bean.
Lazy Housewife Bean
Lazy Housewife Bean– Another white seeded heirloom bean that was introduced back in the 1840s. We have grown this one before, a massive producing pole bean.
Brown Lazy Housewife Bean
Brown Lazy Housewife Bean– This Heirloom pole bean is from 1705 and was brought to Pennsylvania from Europe. They turn brown when dried, used as a dry bean and in lentils.
Red Striped Greasy Bean
Red Striped Greasy Bean– I got these beans about 10 years ago from a seed collector, where these seeds are originally from is unknown. The seeds are tan with brown steaks on them. These are also a pole bean and are very productive as well.
We hope these all do good this year, so we can bring these to the website in 2022. Along with a few other surprise varieties, we do not have listed here. Check out the link below of our other rare heirloom varieties.
