Cheapest Plant Markers That Last For Years
In this blog, we will be discussing how to make plant marker tags the cheapest way possible. We will also be discussing what to use to write on them with, so they do not fade, run, or come off the tag. The reason for this blog is every year customers along with people in garden groups always ask what is the cheapest plant marker tags. The way we do it, these tags, we found to be the cheapest way to create our tomato tags. Along with, we can produce them in large quantity for pennies on the dollar compared to buying all out tomato plant markers.
Our Tomato Garden Plant Tags
What we use vinyl blinds for our tomato garden tags. The reasons we use vinyl blinds because they are very durable. They also are weather resistant compare to using popsicle sticks. Another reason we use these for our tomato tags because we can create a large quantity of plant marker tags (hundreds) for the money. We will purchase these vinyl blinds when we find them at local yard sales, flea markets, and thrift stores. These 3 place will be the cheapest places to buy them from.
How We Create Our Tomato Garden Marker Tags
Now since we have our blinds we first have to pull and cut the strings out from all the blinds. We normally just cut the string at the top and the of the whole blind. Then we just pull the strings out so there is just the slats now. Next we use a paper cutter, we bunch about 5 blind slats on top of one another and cut them to our desired length. They are not perfectly cut each time but as long as we have enough space to write the tomato variety and the date that is all we need.
What To Use To Write With On Your Garden Marker
We use a no.2 pencil on all our tags, we write each of our tomato varieties. The reason we use a no. 2 pencil because it does not fade, run, or wipe off. We have even found tags occasionally from years prior, and we can still read the tomato variety on the tag. We have tried markers, paint markers, and garden markers, but a no.2 pencil works the best out of them all.
We hope this blog will help you cut some cost in your garden.
Happy Growing.
